We use traditional Japanese manufacturing methods and handcrafting techniques when making our scissors. We strive to maintain the master quality craftsmanship which we are known for while incorporating innovations such as natural wooden handles to provide texture as both form and function.

You will feel their softness and smoothness. Each natural wood type has its own characteristics so In developing MIZUTANI’s “Wood” series, we have checked each wood’s suitability with the metal types employed and have lavishly used only high-quality natural woods for the handle parts to make them as smooth as possible. The more the scissors are used, the more the wood texture changes. Enjoy such a woody feeling!

These scissors will give you the feel of a strong cutting action while retaining a sense of softness in their handling due to the wooden finish. In order to obtain the strength to handle extended use, we use a three-layer sandwich structure—placing quenched steel within natural wood outer layers. Because Mizutani want these scissors to be used daily for a lifetime, they have strength the scissors beyond what is normally required: the result is a pair of gentle yet tough scissors consisting of more than 20 parts.

I want to work every day with the warm feel of wood… The SWORD +wood realizes such a wish. These scissors will give you the feel of a strong cutting touch while retaining a sense of softness in their handing. Because we want these scissors to be used daily until the end of time, we pursued strength beyond what is normally required and ended up developing a pair of gentle yet tough scissors consisting of more than 20 parts.
